Lowji Discovers America by Candace Fleming.

This story is told in the first person in a formal yet charming voice and i split my sides laughing at this delightfully funny character. i am shure a lot of expat chidlren will empathise with the fish out of water feeling that this boy from Bombay experiences. It tells of the loneliness and bewilderment of moving to a foreign country. Lowji moves tieht his parents to a small mid-western town in the USA at the beginning of summer vacation, and is confronted with no friends and nothing to do. His gradual transition into this new world is very comical and light hearted. The novel is interspersed with endearlingly offbeat characters from a fat pig to a very grumpy landlady, cultural misunderstandings and hysterically funny expressions. It is a well written book with vivid and lively sentences. Read it!

Shahabanu by Susan Fisher Staples.

It is a great story about a girl in her teens, with a sister, mother, father in her family. She has a husband in the next book called Haveli. They live in Pakistan breeding camels. This story teaches how delicate happiness is and how valuable it is. It is both sad and happy. It has won a Newberry Honor. This should be read and loved by many. I recommend this happying endings, happy beginnings and some happy and sad events in the middle.

Sideways Stories From Wayside School by Louis Sachar.

This story has humorous episodes from the classroom on the thirtieth floor of Wayside School, which was accidentally built sideways with one classroom on each story. All kinds of funny things happen at this school You'll meet the meanest teacher and other nutty characters and kids in the crazy mixed-up school. You'll never guess what happens during Halloween at this Wayside School. A super story to make you laugh and have fun.

I read the entire series of The Series of Unfortunate Events. This series is about the three Baudalaire children whos parents are parished in a fire. It sounds like a scary series but it is a humorous series full of funny adventures with their new gaurdians and their first gaurdian Count Oalf who is trying to steal the Baudalaires rich fortune left by their parents.

Halo
Ghost of Onyx

Halo Ghost of Onyx by Eric Nylund is a book that I would recommend for children who like to read fantasy stories. It is about some scientists on earth who discovered a big halo in space. Some soldiers went in the big halo but eventually they got killed by some Brutes. Now since brutes are so angry, will the brutes invade earth?

I give it 8 points because Eric Nylund gave lots of detail in lots of exciting parts that were going to happen like when the war started

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monster by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson, half boy and half god and he needs to save his camp. His camp called Camp Half Blood Hills is in danger because the tree that guards the camp had been poisoned. The tree is going to die if they don’t find a golden fleece in time. The fleece is located in an island near the Sea of Monster. Percy also has to save his friend, Grover, who is captured by a Cyclops. This book is very enjoyable to read and very exiting. The author used a lot of character to make this story interesting. I rate this book a 10 because this book is really exiting and I got to know more about the Greek gods. This book doesn’t have any illustration but it really paints a picture in my mind. Will Percy and his friend find the fleece in time and save his friend, Grover?

The tale of Despereax

This book starts of when a small mouse was born in the walls of a castle. This small mouse, named Despereaux, was born with big ears and with his eyes open. This book is also about a rat named Chiarosocuro, a young and plump girl named Miggery Sow and there sad and somewhat happy lives in a castle and a dungeon.
I think Kate DiCamillo did a great job and I would give this book a 10 out of 10 because the story was good, it was detailed and it was funny. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sad stories and stories about rats, royal families, mice and soup!

The Sea of Monsters

The Sea of Monsters is an incredible book from the start to the end!! It is the second book in the series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and is written by a man named Rick Riordan. If you have read the first book in the series you would know that the main character’s name is Percy and his dad is the Greek god Poseidon. Since Percy’s dad is a god and his mom is a human, Percy is a half-blood (half human, half god). Being a half-blood is dangerous and these stories tell the life of Percy Jackson and his friends.
The book hooks you at the start, with: “My nightmare started like this.”
The setting is home as Percy is waking up to go to last day of school and meet his friend Tyson. Bad things happen at school. After gym class he went strait to Camp Half-Blood, the camp where Half-Bloods go to camp to get trained by a man named Chiron. Chiron trains them because monsters are attracted to half-bloods and they have to defend themselves or die. The problem in camp is that the tree that guards it is poisoned so campers have to save it. The only way to save it is by getting a jacket called the Golden Fleece.
While this was happening Percy knew that his best friend was in trouble so he set off. The end of the book made me want to read the next book. I think this book is the best one out of the three books that are already made because the other two only hooked me at the beginning but this book hooked me throughout the book.

Artemis Fowl
By Eion Colfer

Artemis Fowl is an amazing book that paints a clear picture in your mind. Artemis is a brilliant 12 year old genius who blackmails a drunken fairy to make her give the sacred book of the fairy people. With the information from the book Artemis plans and ingenious plot to kidnap a fairy and hold it for ransom. His mother, Angeline Fowl, is in deep depression because Artemis’s father disappeared in Russia. The rumor is that he was shot by the Russian mafia. Artemis’s mother misses her husband so much that often believes that her husband is at her side when he’s supposedly dead in a far away country.

I gave this book a 9 because the author, Eoin Colfer, presented the book in such a way that made you want to read more of the book.

Snakehead

Snakehead, by Anthony Horowitz, is an awesome book that is packed with action and secrets from Alex’s past that have not yet been revealed to him. In this one, Alex gets teamed up with his godfather that he hasn’t known about, Ash, and must report on everything they can find out about the ruthless organization of the deadly Snakehead. As
well as reporting on the Snakehead, he suddenly discovers another plan constructed by an old enemy that will bring chaos to the world, without arising any suspicion. I think this is definitely one of the best out of the Alex Rider series and is definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read because it is so entertaining and interesting to read, while in addition reveals an amazing secret of Alex’s past.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is the best book that I have ever read! It is about a half blood boy called Percy Jackson who is half God half boy. Since he is dyslexic he has moved schools 6 times in 6 years. The best part was when he finds out he was a half blood and his mom is married to Poseidon the god of the sea. He and his friend Grover join a Greek camp where children of Greek Gods learn how to become a God. Later he and his 2 friends Grover and Annabeth have to go to a quest. I would give this book a 10 because of the way Rick Riordan wrote the book because whenever you think Percy and his friends are safe a monster comes.

I would recommend this book for kids who like funny and adventure books.

The Girl with the Broken Wing is really good and the illustrations are really great! It’s about friendship, to know how people feel and being a risk-taker.

The character is Hillary, she is an angel with a broken wing but no one knows what she really is. Hillary is a bright girl but she sometimes gets into mischief and she loves playing with people her own age. The place where she comes from is very boring.

The story is about the girl with the broken Wing is when Hilary was flying in the stormy night she accidentally hurt herself by falling from the sky and landed right on the twin’s roof .Then the twins helped her get inside their bedroom and then it all starts! She goes on adventures the twins and gets into trouble.

I recommend this book to girls who are really into girls with wings and adventures.

Amelia Jane Again is a very good book because I felt like I was in the story and I was one of the characters. There are many stories inside this book and they are all about her naughtiness. In one story she is so naughty that she stuck the toys and shoes down a rat hole. When they got it out the shoes were all bitten and torn and the other toys were so sad. The best bit about the book is that she is a doll because it makes it more interesting. Enid Blyton’s Amelia Jane books are the best and funny.

I would recommend this book to young kids like me. Kids who like to read fiction
And who like funny books.

Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire are going through some tough times. With their parents mysterious death in a fire which practically burns down their life. Violet the oldest Baudelaire is an inventor. Klaus the middle Baudelaire is a book worm. Sunny the youngest Baudelaire is a biter and loves to bite hard things unlike other babies sunny does not like soft toys and would rather chew on metal stone and plastic.
The children’s parents left them a huge fortune of money but they can only use it when violet comes of age. Count Olaf their first guardian is and evil man with many associates who try to kill the Baudelaire orphans so that they can have all their future money. Mr. Poe who is the banker, who takes care of their money and finding them a new guardian. Is not a help at all he never believes the children if something is wrong.
The things that happen in this book should never happen to children. Do your parents ever tell you that don’t watch a certain show and they say it is not appropriate what the Baudelaire’s go through is not appropriate.
The Series of Unfortunate Events are amazing books!!
Although Lemony Snicket is a strange writer he writes great books. I am writing to you about the first and best book. The genre is a sad fiction and is appropriate for all ages.

Harriet the Spy is a very gripping and interesting novel, and it is all about friendship. Harriet is a girl who loves to spy. She keeps a notebook in which she writes everything she sees or feels. Her notebook contains good and even bad things about her classmates including her best friends, Sport and Janie. At her house there is Ole Golly, a woman who takes care of Harriet and Harriet tells her everything. One day as Harriet and her friends are playing tag her friends get to read her notebook. They get really mad at her. Read this gook to find out if Harriet can find a way to put her friendship back together.

I really enjoyed this book as it was filled with suspense. It also explained a lot about telling the truth and having to lie. There is a sequel to this book called Harriet Spies Again. I can’t wait to read that book.

It’s Not the End Of the World

It’s Not the End Of the World is a magnificent book written by a really good author, Judy Blume. This book is about a girl named Karen Newman, the main character, and how her life turns difficult right when she least expected it. She thinks her mom and dad are getting divorced because they fight too much, her big brother, Jeff ran away and her little sister, Amy, won’t stop sleeping in her room because she thinks Karen will be gone in the morning!!!! I feel that Judy Blume really expresses Karen’s feelings and emotions through out the book. I could change part of the book I would change nothing. I really loved this book because it was so emotional and you could feel each characters emotion on things. If you like emotional books or books about people’s problems then you would really like It’s Not the end of the World.
